How to Register

Register or change your address online (must have a Virginia driver's license) by visiting the following site: Voter Registration. Or obtain, complete and submit a hard copy voter registration application form. The form must be delivered to a voter registrar’s office by mail or in person. You may apply to register to vote or change your voter registration address or name at any DMV office.

When to Register

Every election has a registration deadline, prior to a 21 day period, when the "books are closed" to any new registrations or registration changes. A list of the upcoming elections can be found on our website, along with the corresponding registration deadlines. Please contact our office in a timely manner if you wish to register or update your existing information.

Address or Name Changes

To remain a qualified registered voter, the law requires you to notify your local voter registration office of any change in your name or address. Visit the following site to submit your change of address online: Address Change (must have a Virginia driver's license). Or obtain, complete and submit a hard copy voter registration application form with the address change. The form must be delivered to a voter registrar’s office by mail or in person. You may apply to register to vote or change your voter registration address or name at any DMV office.

You may also submit your current Voter ID card with the “Transfer And/Or Update Form” completed on the back to a local Voter Registrar’s office. After your change is processed, you will be mailed a new Voter Information Card. If your new card does not arrive in a few weeks, contact the Voter Registration Office to confirm that your notice was received.
