[ARCHIVED] Fraud Alert - Regarding Recent Fraudulent Billing

Attention Residents,

It has come to our attention that scammers are sending out fake invoices to residents in our county, attempting to steal personal information and money. These fraudulent invoices may appear to be from legitimate businesses or government agencies but are not authorized.

Please follow these important guidelines to protect yourself:

  1. Verify Before Paying: Always confirm the authenticity of any invoice by contacting the company or organization directly using official contact details.
  2. Look for Red Flags: Be cautious of invoices that include incorrect or unfamiliar information, unexpected charges, or pressure for immediate payment.
  3. Do Not Share Personal Information: Avoid giving out sensitive information like bank account details, credit card numbers, or Social Security numbers without verifying the request.
  4. Report Suspicious Activity: If you receive a fake invoice, report it to local authorities.

Stay vigilant and protect yourself from these scams.

Sincerely,

 Michael Bowen
