Home - Stay Connected Posted on January 27, 2026

Rockingham County has declared a local state of emergency due to the impact caused by recent snow and ice storms, effective 1/25/2026.

These storms have caused widespread damage throughout our community, including the collapse of at least 11 poultry houses and one greenhouse. If you have any agricultural damage from recent storms or weather events, contact your local extension office. For Rockingham County that is 540-564-3080 or contact Jeremy Daubert at 540-705-4627 or jdaubert@vt.edu. We are currently seeking aggregate data for damages (buildings lost, equipment lost, animals lost and their associated values). Estimates of values are ok as a starting point. Please take photos of damage and records of any losses. Contact your insurance agent for insurance claims and your local first responders for any immediate dangers. Thank you.
