A tank and gas line permit is required for installation or alteration of liquified petroleum (LP) or natural gas systems. If the tank is being installed to supply a generator, the tank permit will need to be obtained at the same time as the electrical permit for the generator. Tanks exceeding 1,000 gallons should comply with NFPA58 .
