The moment the snow melts and the bright Shenandoah Valley green starts to come out again, so do the bikes, fishing rods, and golf clubs. First Fridays in downtown Harrisonburg are one of the first signs of the shifting season. Although this monthly celebration of all things art, music and food takes place all year long, the number of people hitting the streets to experience it all really picks up in the spring.
In addition to a number of spring events, most of the nearby parks reopen for both hikers and campers. Shenandoah National Park and the Appalachian Trail are just two great examples, but you can read more on our Trails, National Parks, and Camping page.
