| It is with great sadness we announce the death of Firefighter Roy D. Smith III of the McGaheysville Volunteer Fire Company. Roy was responding to a working structure fire on November 7, 2008 when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed at approximately 1:30 am. Firefighter Smith was a member of the department since October 2007 and was a junior at Spotswood High School.
