PUBLIC NOTICE
for the
Tuesday, April 21, 2026 (Special Election)
in
Rockingham County, Virginia
In-person, early voting for Rockingham County voters will be available in the Rockingham County Voter Registrar’s Office, County Administration Building, 20 East Gay Street, Harrisonburg 22802, beginning Friday, March 6, 2026 and ending Saturday, April 18th. Hours of operation are listed below:
- Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
- Saturdays: April 11 and April 18 -- 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Ballot Drop Box will be available on the same dates, and times listed above in the Voter Registrar’s office also an outside (yellow ballot drop box that is camera monitored) that adjoins the parking lot near the front of the Administration Building.
Drop boxes will also be available at all regular polling places on Election Day, Tuesday, April 21st, from 6:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.

Deadlines:
- Register to Vote/Update Registration: 4/14/2026
- Early in-person voting: 3/6/2026 through 4/18/2026
- Apply for ballot to be mailed to you: through 4/10/2026
Register to vote or update an existing registration:
- Through Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
- Register to vote or update an existing registration online using the Citizen Portal.
- Voters may register and vote using a provisional ballot In-Person after April 14, 2026, through Election Day.
- Contact your local registrar’s office for more information.
Early, in-person voting period:
- Start Date Friday, March 6, 2026 through 5:00 p.m., Saturday, April 18, 2026.
- Contact your local registrar’s office for all early voting.
- Voter registration offices will be open for early voting on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
Apply for a ballot to be mailed to you:
- Through 5:00 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2026.
- Your request must be received by your local registrar's office by 5:00 p.m.
- Apply for an absentee ballot online using the Citizen Portal.

Absentee Ballots are only mailed to voters who request them. Click the link below to complete an absentee ballot application online or stop by the Voter Registrar's Office (20 E Gay St.) to pick up a paper application. Generally, absentee ballots are mailed out beginning 45 days prior to an election. Once you receive your absentee ballot in the mail, it can be returned (by mail, official dropbox or in-person) as soon as it is completed—Be sure to follow the enclosed instructions carefully.
