New Information on Filing For Personal Property Tax:
The Commissioner of the Revenue office will not be mailing out Returns of Tangible Personal Property for personal vehicles for the year 2011. Rockingham County will be using DMV records to assess personal property taxes. Businesses and Farms will still receive the returns and those will be due by May 1, 2011.
Virginia Law requires you to notify DMV if you sell, trade, or dispose of your vehicle or if you change your address. Additional documents supporting the disposal of the vehicle and/or residency change may be required if information is not updated.

ALL BUSINESSES within Rockingham County MUST file an assessment form every year. An itemized breakdown, including a description of all equipment owned, date purchased and original cost IS REQUIRED. This includes all expensed or fully depreciated items. If you have any questions please call (540) 564-3065.

The deadline to file Tax Relief for the Elderly or Disabled is April 1st each year.
- NOTICE: The Board of Equalization will hold an organizational meeting on March 1, 2010 to set time and dates for appointments.
- Any person aggreived by the new assessment may schedule an appointment AFTER March 1, 2010 by calling (540)564-3069 to select times and dates set by the Board of Equalization.
- The Land Use office is currently conducting the six year Revalidation for those parcels under special assessment for agricultural, horticultural, forested and open space use. Forms were mailed on June 15th 2010, and we ask that they be returned by August 2nd 2010. Please call Dan at the Land Use office (540) 564-3066 if you have questions or did not receive your forms.
