Next Rockingham County Election: November 2, 2010 Federal Election

This November 2, the County will join Virginia’s 6th Congressional District in electing a U.S. House of Representative member (currently held by Robert “Bob” Goodlatte). Last day to register or make changes to your registration for this Election is Tuesday, October 12.

ALSO, six towns in the County will elect a Mayor and members of their Town Council.  The towns are Bridgewater, Dayton, Elkton, Grottoes, Mt. Crawford and Timberville. Last day to register or make changes to your registration is Tuesday, October 12.

How to Register

Obtain, complete and submit a voter registration application form - for an interactive form, click here. The form must be delivered to a Voter Registrar’s office by mail or in person. You may apply to register to vote or change your voter registration address or name at any DMV office.

When to Register

Every Election has a registration deadline. See “Election News” for specific deadline dates.

Address or Name Changes

To remain a qualified registered voter, the law requires you to notify your local voter registration office of any change in your name or address. The same form used to register can be used to submit changes – for an interactive form, click here. You may make changes to your voter registration address or name at any DMV office.

 

OR submit your current Voter ID card with the “Transfer And/Or Update Form” completed on the back to a local Voter Registrar’s office. After your change is processed, you will be mailed a new Voter Information Card. If your new card does not arrive in a few weeks, contact the Voter Registration Office to confirm that your notice was received.

How to Vote Absentee

By Mail: To receive an absentee ballot in the mail, complete an absentee application and submit it to a local Voter Registrar’s office either by mail, fax or email.

 

In Person: Visit the Voter Registrar’s office in the locality where you are registered to vote.

In Person: Absentee voting at the local Voter Registrar’s office will begin approximately 45 days prior to a November General, 30 days prior to a Primary and as soon as available for a Special.  The last day to vote absentee in-person for this November's General Election is Saturday, October 30 (office hours are 9-5).
