Do I need a Business License to operate a Business in Rockingham County?
Rockingham County does not have a business license. However, if you are running a business out of your home or elsewhere in the county, you will need to provide us with year end inventory figures (merchants capital), and a depreciation schedule of any and all tools, furniture, fixtures, and machinery. This schedule should be an itemized listing stating the date of purchase for each item and the items purchase price (Most of the time your accountant will list this schedule with your income taxes). This filing is due no later than May 1st of each year. You will also need to contact the Community Development office for any restrictions and authorization in opening any business (540-564-3030). If you are conducting business with in a town limits you will also need to contact that town for information on their business license requirements.
