Citizens > Discount Prescription Drug Card
Rockingham County has joined the National Association of Counties Prescription Discount Card Program. The County has received at NO Charge a supply of member cards to give to citizens that do not have prescription drug insurance coverage. This is a Discount Card program and NOT insurance. The Card is FREE to citizens of the County and only one card is needed for a family. Citizens present the discount card when having a prescription filled.
According to NACo an average savings of 20% may be realized on commonly prescribed drugs this means there will be some Rxs that may not be subject to the discount. The Card is easy to use and is accepted at 95% of the pharmacies in the County and City. According to NACo all of the participating pharmacies have been notified. The card program is administered by Caremark, Inc. one of the country’s largest prescription card companies. Caremark provides a toll free number, 1-877-321-2652, and a website https://naco.advancerx.com that may be used by the card holder to ask questions or to obtain additional information. Caremark also has available a mail order program that may be used by the card holder.
If you have prescription drug coverage, the card will not provide any benefit to you. If you are signed up for Medicare Part D, the card may not provide any benefit either but if some of the medications you take are not covered then you can use your discount card. The Discount card is designed to aid those citizens that do not have insurance coverage.
The Discount Rx Card is available at the receptionist desk at the main lobby of the Rockingham County Administration Center and the Human Resources Department.
