Mission Statement
The mission of the Voter Registrar’s Office is to:
  • Provide equal opportunity for all qualified citizens of Rockingham County to register to vote
  • Maintain accurate voter records used in elections
  • Conduct all elections at the highest level of professional standards, ensuring public confidence in the integrity of the results
  • Be an information resource for citizens regarding voter registration, absentee voting, elections, and elected officials

Key dates and deadlines for this election have been provided below

Voter Registration Deadline

  • The last day to register or update existing information pertaining to your voting record is May 18, 2015.
  • In Person- Applications  must be received by 5:00 P.M. on the day of the deadline in order to be processed before the June Primary
  • By Mail- Applications must be postmarked by May 19th in order to be processed before the June Primary.

Absentee Voting — By Mail

  • The deadline to submit an application to have an absentee ballot mailed to you is Tuesday, June 2 at 5 p.mApplications must be received at the Voter Registration Office by that time.
  • Absentee ballots must be received at the Voter Registration Office by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day (June 9th) to be counted.
  • The ballot may be mailed or delivered in-person (an absentee ballot dropped off must be delivered personally by the voter).

For this election, Virginia's photo ID requirements do not apply to absentee voters who request an absentee ballot by mail.

Absentee Voting — In Person

 (beginning Friday, April 24) 

In-person absentee voting at the Voter Registration Office begin on Friday, April 24th, at 8 a.m. and ends on Saturday, June 6th at  5:00 p.m.

  • Regular hours for in-person absentee voting are Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (The office will be closed on Monday, May 25.)
  • Extended hours for in-person absentee voting will be posted later.
You may complete your absentee application when you come to vote.

Virginia's new photo ID requirements apply to absentee voters who cast their absentee ballot in person. Voters who do not have acceptable ID may apply for an ID (and receive a temporary ID) at the same time they come to cast their in-person absentee ballot. 


 
Photo ID Required for Voting:

Effective July 1, 2014, voters must present one of the following forms of identification when voting.

* If you do not have an acceptable form of identification, please contact our office for a free ID.

  • Valid Virginia Driver's License
  • Valid Employee photo identification card
  • DMV- issued photo identification card
  • Other government -issued photo identification card
  • Valid United States Passport
  • Valid college or university student photo identification card (issuer must be an institution of higher education located in Virginia)
