The Rockingham County Comprehensive Plan is an official public document that serves as the county-wide guide for future decisions regarding development, preservation, public facilities, and other key components of community life. To keep the plan current, it is periodically reviewed; the last review was approved by the Board of Supervisors on February 28, 2007, and is entitled the Comprehensive Plan 2006 Review.
The County also has the McGaheysville Area Plan. The Board of Supervisors authorized a study of the McGaheysville area and the creation of an area plan. This was in response to an increased number of development proposals coming before the Board and concern from the area residents regarding the possible impact of these proposals on their community.
On April 11, 2007 the McGaheysville Area Plan was approved by the Board of Supervisors. This plan is the official reference for development inquiries in the McGaheysville area. The McGaheysville Area Plan supersedes all text and map references to the McGaheysville area that are found in the Comprehensive Plan 2006 Review.
