Stop, Drop & Run 5k

We are partnering with the Timberville Volunteer Fire Department for the first Stop, Drop & Run 5K. The 5K will start and end at the Plains District Community Center, where there will be activities for all ages at the finish line! Strollers and dogs (on leashes) are welcome, ages 12 and under are free! All proceeds will benefit the Timberville Volunteer Fire Department. Pre-register by September 21 to receive a t-shirt.

pumpkin painting party


Pumpkin painting, cookie decorating, Halloween themed crafts and snacks – oh my! This is a great event for the entire family. Supplies are included; all pumpkins are donated by Showalter’s Orchard.

Family Movie Night

Save the dates for the movie nights at Plains District Community Center! The movies will be shown on our projection system in the Community Room. Themed activities will be available for your little ones to participate in before the movie and concessions will be available for purchase (cash only).

Breakfast with Santa & Mrs. Claus

Come out and enjoy a short visit and breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Bring your camera and snap a holiday photo! Pre-registration is required.

15th Annual Kids' Fishing Day-SPring 2019!


This is a free event for all children ages 15yrs and under. It is held at Silver Lake in Dayton, Virginia, and the event is sponsored by Rockingham County Parks and Recreation and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. Donations from local businesses and individuals provide the children with lunch, door prizes and snacks. No registration is required for this event.

Mobile Food Pantry
Need Groceries? If you need food assistance, we can help. Food will be distributed on the second Thursday each morning from 10am-12pm at Plains District Community Center in Timberville. This is open to everyone and no paperwork is needed. This service is co-sponsored with the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and MARTIN’S Family Foundation.
